Trans World Educational Experiences were delighted to make our first donation to our fantastic charity partner, Together in Sport Rwanda (TISR), last week with a £1500 contribution.
The money was raised from all Trans World trips running between October and January, with a percentage of the cost of each trip being donated to TISR.
Together in Sport Rwanda is an amazing charity that uses the power of sport to foster health, well-being and community cohesion in rural Rwanda. Trans World donates a percentage of every student’s fee to support the charity’s food programme at the Hope and Faith Academy in Bugasera. The goal in year one is to provide one hot meal to all 500 students every school day by the end of 2017, providing the energy needed to take part in sports.
Kari Spence, founder of Together in Sport Rwanda, said the partnership was “game changing” for the charity. She said it “gives us the oxygen we need to scale up our support for the children and their families at the Faith and Hope Academy.”
Scott Macfarlane, UK Director of Trans World Educational Experiences, was thrilled to present Together in Sport with the first donation of the partnership. “Our purpose at Trans World is to build global citizens of tomorrow through our world-class travel experiences. The new partnership with Together in Sport is an important part of our future strategy and we want to take our customers with us on this journey – students and teachers will directly contribute to the cause simply by travelling on a school trip.
He continued: “A huge thank you must go to every school, club, teacher, student and parent who has helped make this donation possible. Without their support and loyalty we would not have been able to donate such a sizeable sum.”
The donation was made with thanks to:
